Champagne Perrine Fresne in Decanter!

“Perrine Fresne, 32, is based on the northwestern edge of the Montagne de Reims, in Sermiers, a premier cru village known for Pinot Meunier on clay and sand soils. Fresne started in 2019 with 3ha when her father retired, and launched her first Champagne in October 2022. Each harvest she selects the best third of her grapes and sells the remaining two-thirds, hoping in time to highlight the singularity of her village.” Anne Kriebiehl MW, Decanter, May 10, 2023

Her Sarmate I received 90 points in the February 2023 issue of Decanter, reviewed by Anne Kriebiehl MW:
“The debut vintage made by Fresne, with all three varieties – 37% each of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with 26% Meunier – harvested in Sermiers; 70% of the wine is based on the 2020 vintage, while the 30% of older wines are from a perpetual reserve of wines from 2015 to 2019, her ‘only legacy’ from her father’s winemaking. Vinified entirely in stainless steel, with a tiny dosage of 2g/L. Faint notes of fresh, ripe apple flesh on the nose, the palate vivid and fresh with frothy foam revealing a trace of rye crumb and lemony freshness, finishing bone-dry and clean.”
