From Joanna King of Château Unang in Ventoux’s post on Linked In: “February 2023 should end with a deficit of around 50% precipitation. Aggravating factor ? This is the 16th month with a deficit since August 2021. For now, the 2022 drought is spilling over into 2023 by skipping the recharge season.
We have not observed any precipitation since Jan. 21, i.e. 27 days without rain. This beats the old winter record (22d in 1989) and could beat the record for all months combined (31d in 2020). The precipitation deficit map since Jan. 21, 2023 speaks for itself.
