Papa Pfister Celebrates 60 Harvests at the Domaine

André Pfister celebrated his 60th harvest this past fall at Domaine Mélanie Pfister. He joined his parents at the age of 15 for the 1966 harvest. As daughter Mélanie, who manages the domaine with him now and is the 8th generation to do so, says, “Sixty years of work is no small feat. Sixty years of a deep-rooted passion.”

Some news from the domaine about Harvest 2025:
“We experienced a rare and intense “blitz vintage”. The harvest was early and rapid: from August 25th to September 18th! An absolute record for the end of the harvest at the domaine.

It must be said that the season was very dry until mid-June. Bunches remained small and light, allowing them to ripen quickly. Rain also joined the party at the beginning of September, giving the ripening process a final boost. All of this combined meant that we were able (and had to!) harvest quickly, thanks to our dream team of (retired) pickers.” [The Pfister family works with Dahlenheim’s retirement home, employing a group of its members as harvesters, which is a win-win for the community.]
