The March issue of La Revue du Vin de France (that country’s top wine magazine) did a feature on producers in Provence and singled out Carole Salen from Domaine Les Bastides. Here’s what they said:
In Puy-Sainte-Réparade, Domaine Les Bastides has belonged to the Salen family since 1967. Jean Salen was one of those rare Provençal growers to have never integrated syrah into his assemblages. Since 1987, his daughter Carole has continued his work and creates classic reds and gourmet rosés which work up an appetite.
Red: Valéria Coteaux d’Aix 2013–with its iodized flavors, it develops a stimulating energy. It will age well. 16.5/20 points
Rosé: Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence 2015—a very pretty vinous rosé. 15.5/20 points
